Everyone knows about wrangling between Peoria and East Peoria over where the next land-based casino in the area should be built. Now there appears to be another tension point brewing between the cities.
East Peoria, according to multiple Peoria city officials, has been threatening to sue Peoria on a claim that a 1991 intergovernmental signed between the cities about revenue sharing from riverboat gambling also applies to revenue brought in from video gaming terminals.
The machines, which are found in bars and restaurants across most Illinois cities, are an economic boon for Peoria and the state of Illinois.
