The city’s main casino workers union approved a new one-year contract with Golden Nugget Atlantic City on Thursday night.

That leaves just one casino, Bally’s Atlantic City, without a new contract.

Negotiations are scheduled for next week with Bally’s.

Local 54 of the Unite Here casino workers union has been reaching one-year deals with the Atlantic City casinos this year due to the numerous uncertainties facing the city’s casino industry.

These include the opening in the next year or two of three new casinos in New York City that will compete with Atlantic City; a renewed push in the New Jersey Legislature to authorize another referendum in which voters would be asked to approve casinos in North Jersey; the continuing efforts of some workers to enact a smoking ban in Atlantic City’s casinos, and political uncertainty concerning how the casinos are taxed.
