The city’s main casino workers union has reached agreements with eight of the nine casinos on a short-term, one-year contract, an acknowledgement of the challenges and uncertainties facing the local casino industry.
Members of Local 54 of the Unite Here union are scheduled to vote Thursday whether to ratify an agreement its negotiators reached with Golden Nugget Atlantic City, union President Donna DeCaprio said.
If that deal is approved, as expected, it would leave only Bally’s Atlantic City without a new contract.
Those talks are expected to get underway next week now that Bally’s has hired the former head of Golden Nugget, Tom Pohlman, to be its new president in a transaction announced Monday.
