Second class of ‘10 Women Rising in Gaming’ shines spotlight on accomplished women

As president and board chair of Global Gaming Women, Cassie Stratford has had the opportunity to meet many of the non-profit organization’s nearly 7,000 members.

But it’s almost impossible to get to know everyone in depth. CDC Gaming Reports’ “10 Women Rising in Gaming Under 40,” which showcases a range of talented women in the gaming industry, has given Stratford and GGW Executive Director Kelly Hatch insights about some of the organization’s most accomplished members.

“There are just so many women we’ve had the pleasure of encountering through our professional everyday jobs through GGW that are not only really successful from a professional perspective, but dedicated to giving back,” Stratford says. “And when you scratch below the surface, they have these really incredible stories to tell about where they came from and how they landed in gaming.”

The new honorees and the first recipients of “10 Women Rising in Gaming” will be recognized at the GGW’s Sip & Social Oct. 12 at the Global Gaming Expo at the Venetian in Las Vegas.

Stratford thinks the importance of recognizing women in the industry can’t be overstated.

“When you’re just kind of trudging along doing your best, you may or may not realize whether or not your efforts are getting recognized as it relates to what you’re doing in your day-to-day job, as it relates to what you’re doing for the industry, as it relates to what you’re doing to give back to others, to GGW and other organizations,” she says. “And I think that kind of recognition is so encouraging, and that’s one of the things that I probably love the most about these awards. It’s this idea of encouraging one another and how impactful that could be in someone’s life.”
