On an unadjusted basis, revenue for Churchill Downs’s historical horse racing machines (HHR) in Virginia was up 2.6 percent in April 2026. The company has a monopoly on all HHR in the Cavalier State.

However, when adjusted to a same-store basis, the revenue fell nine percent to $47.7 million. That comparison excludes The Rose in Dumfries and Churchill Downs’s new slot parlor in Henrico County.

Churchill Downs’s many Richmond-area HHR felt the competitive bite of new temporary Live Virginia in nearby Petersburg. HHR tallies in Richmond plummeted 19.1 percent.

The various Rosie’s slot parlors in Richmond grossed $10.6 million. That worked out to $294 in win per device per day.

The highest win per device was recorded at the new Roseshire facility in Henrico County. There, HHR averaged $459 daily, for a gross of $2.4 million.

In terms of gross, northern Virginia’s The Rose casino led all Churchill Downs properties with $14.5 million, or $300 per slot per day. That was a 31.9 percent vault over April 2025.

Colonial Downs’s machines sagged 20.2 percent to $3.7 million or $256 per HHR daily. But Rosie’s in Hampton Roads was up 3.7 percent. It grossed $9.2 million or $438 per slot per day.

The Emporia-area Rosie’s also was nipped by Petersburg competition. Its tally fell 14.3 percent to $1.8 million. Win averaged $407 per device per day.

Rosie’s in Vinton was up 7.3 percent to $5.1 million. Its per-day average was $364 per HHR. In Colinsville, Rosie’s grossed $400,000, down 2.6 percent. That was an average of $331 per device per day.
