The New Jersey Economic Development Authority did not consider a request for a tax break for the Sheraton Atlantic City Convention Center Hotel at its meeting Thursday.

With only one more meeting left before the hotel’s self-imposed Dec. 15 shutdown date if it does not get incentives under the state ASPIRE program, Sheraton owner Tom Scannapieco said Wednesday its days appear numbered.

“Time is running out,” he said. “Despite repeated requests for expedited review, NJEDA’s October agenda has been released, and we are not on it. Every week of delay costs us experienced employees and first-quarter bookings, making it harder to try to keep the hotel open. In sum, anyone who wants this hotel to keep supporting the Convention Center needs to recognize that we have only weeks left, and the only viable financial plan on the table is ours.”
