Gov. Mikie Sherrill said Tuesday the state is in talks with the owners of the Sheraton Atlantic City Convention Center Hotel about the future of the property, which is threatening to close in December if it doesn’t get state tax breaks.
During a visit to neighboring Brigantine, the governor said her administration is in talks with LINY Investor LLC about the 502-room hotel, which is seen as crucial to Atlantic City’s convention and meetings business amid its ongoing effort to diversify its economy beyond gambling.
“The Economic Development Authority is currently in talks with the developers and owners in Atlantic City on what the path forward might be,” Sherrill said.
