The Supreme Court of Canada will hear an appeal on 7 October over whether legal online gaming and sports betting would remain lawful under the Criminal Code if users were permitted to participate in games and betting involving individuals outside Canada.
The appeal has been brought by Atlantic Lottery Corporation, British Columbia Lottery Corporation and Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries Corporation, and Loto-Québec, the latter added as an appellant on 2 April 2026.
The Attorney General of Ontario is named as respondent.
