Growing up in the city’s South End, Rico Daniele has seen a lot from his family business on Main Street and the apartment where they live upstairs.
Though he is happiest chattering about his passion, bocce ball, Daniele took a moment this past week to reflect on the MGM Springfield casino that now consumes much of the neighborhood where he has spent a lifetime, in light of the fact that the company wants out.
The would-be love story between MGM Springfield and city officials has been tested for years, but perhaps officially ended last month when the city filed suit against the company for failing to live up to its host agreement.
