The city of Peoria has filed a lawsuit seeking to block a vote by the Illinois Gaming Board on Boyd Gaming’s proposal to build a new Par-A-Dice Casino in East Peoria, officials said Tuesday.

City Manager Patrick Urich said the suit was filed in Cook County, the venue where such suits against the gaming board are heard. The suit named Boyd, the city of East Peoria, the Par-A-Dice Gaming Corporation and the gaming board as defendants.

The city is also seeking a temporary restraining order to block a vote Thursday morning by the IGB on the $160 million Boyd Gaming proposal.
