The owners of the Sheraton Atlantic City Convention Center Hotel said Monday it might close Dec. 15 if it doesn’t get a tax break from the state, and issued prospective layoff notices to all employees.
LINY Investor LLC, which owns the hotel, put pressure on the state to approve a grant it is seeking for the project, saying the financial assistance is needed to prevent the Sheraton from closing.
Previously, the hotel had sent layoff notices to 99 workers in July. It was not immediately clear how many employees currently work at the hotel, which is being targeted for a partial conversion into senior housing.
