With plans accelerating for a $3 billion convention center in the Meadowlands — perhaps with a casino as part of it — an Atlantic County lawmaker has introduced a bill that would give the Atlantic City Convention Center up to $50 million for renovations.
The bill from Assemblywoman Maureen Rowan, D-Atlantic, also would require the state to conduct a study of how a Meadowlands convention center might affect the Atlantic City center before any state money could be spent on a similar facility in North Jersey.
Earlier this year, North Jersey lawmakers and the Meadowlands Chamber unveiled plans for a $3 billion convention center at the sports complex in East Rutherford.
