With the deadline to regulate skill games set for Tuesday and no deal reached in Harrisburg, state officials say it is almost guaranteed that skill machines will be illegal come Wednesday.
The state Supreme Court gave lawmakers 120 days to regulate skill games, but legislators have not passed a plan. Lawmakers have said three major hurdles needed to be cleared to reach an agreement: how much to tax skill games, where that money would go, and who would be allowed to have the machines.
Josh McCahan, the owner of Fun Central in Clearfield, said the business makes a couple thousand dollars a month from skill machines and that the income has helped keep the business going.
