New York City: Resorts World expansion is adding much of what draws people to Atlantic City

When Resorts World New York City added table games to its slot machine operation at a Queens racetrack in May, Atlantic City was concerned.

But now the casino has begun a major expansion that will add a second hotel tower; a 7,000-seat arena; a sports and media complex, and additional bars and restaurants.

That’s a lot of what New York residents have traditionally gone to Atlantic City to experience. And it’s part of the reason the seaside resort fears the impact of Resorts World and two other new casinos that will open in the coming years.
