The city council is scheduled Thursday to consider a final vote on an ordinance banning gambling machines.

The ordinance would align Santa Fe’s regulations with state and county laws prohibiting gambling.

Santa Fe would become the fourth city in Galveston County to outlaw the machines, commonly called eight-liners, if the ordinance passes Thursday on the second reading.

Galveston County banned game rooms from operating digital slot machines in unincorporated areas in June after years of regulating them, while Kemah, League City and La Marque have since adopted similar municipal prohibitions.
