“Look, I don’t care if we get a casino or not,” said Keith Byers, the man who contributed $500,000 to the group trying to land an Allen County casino.
“I gave that much money because if somebody’s going to get it, if somebody’s going to get it,” he repeated for effect, “I want it to be Allen County, because it’s going to bring in an economic boom. ”
Voters in Allen, DeKalb and Steuben counties will vote this election whether or not to allow a casino in those counties. The Indiana Gaming Commission would then choose an operator, who would pick a site, work with local zoning, and spend the $650 million required by Indiana lawmakers to enter the northeast Indiana market.
