Democratic gubernatorial nominee Amy Acton and Libertarian opponent Don Kissick each favor legalizing new kinds of online gambling if elected this November, though they disagree on the need for new sports-betting restrictions and consumer safeguards.
But Republican nominee Vivek Ramaswamy has offered little indication to voters of where he stands on gambling, even though Ohio’s next governor will play a big role in determining whether the Buckeye State goes all in or hedges its bets on the lucrative but controversial industry.
His campaign did not respond to questions submitted by cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer.
Ohio has had four casinos and seven racinos for more than a decade, as well as legalized sports betting since 2023.
