The city of Peoria is dropping its lawsuit against Boyd Gaming, the Illinois Gaming Board and the city of East Peoria, following a decision by Boyd to scrap its plans to construct a casino building on land, according to a news release from the city.
Peoria’s move to drop its lawsuit comes after Boyd Gaming pivoted to plans to build its new casino in East Peoria on a barge on the Illinois River rather than construct a 29,000-square-foot building in the parking lot of the current Par-A-Dice Casino location.
Should Boyd Gaming revert to plans for a land-based casino, Peoria would reinstate its lawsuit, according to the news release.
