October 23, 2014 · 6:35am ET | 3:35am PT

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) – A Texas Lottery scratch-off game that some players complained has confusing rules will end just months after it began.

A statement from the Texas Lottery Commission says “a few opportunistic individuals” appear to be exploiting the Fun 5 game, which launched Sept. 1.

Commission officials say the agency has received feedback from some players expressing confusion on certain aspects of the $5 game.

Critics say the rules makes it appear that players need to complete one certain part of the game to win, while lottery officials say the rules explain two parts must be completed.

A 45-day call period to end the game began Tuesday. The game officially ends Dec. 5. Players with winning Fun 5 tickets will be allowed to claim prizes until June 3, 2015.
