Two Tukwila casinos are shutting down, meaning 238 employees will lose their jobs.
Maverick Gaming filed notices with the state Monday, according to the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification, stating it’s closing both the Great American Casino and the Riverside Casino on Interurban Avenue S. in Tukwila.
The closures are set for Nov. 1.
Maverick Gaming, based in Kirkland, has operated under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection since last year and has closed five locations since April. The affected workers range across several casino roles, including cashiers, bartenders, dealers, cooks, and management. One hundred forty-two employees were laid off from Riverside Casino, while 96 employees were laid off from Great American Casino.
