Inflation, tariffs and political turmoil are clouding the tourism outlook for the Jersey Shore this summer, experts say, adding that many vacationers are taking a wait-and-see approach before booking trips.

“Uncertainty” was a word used over and over again Wednesday during the 17th annual Shorecast hosted by the Lloyd D. Levenson Institute of Gaming, Hospitality and Tourism at Stockton University. The panel focuses on the summer tourism outlook for the shore.

But at least one area of concern could help the Jersey Shore, panelists said.

Widespread disruptions to the nation’s air traffic control system and the resulting cancellations of waves of flights could end up sending more visitors to the shore, said Ben Rose, director of marketing and public relations for the Greater Wildwoods Tourism Improvement and Development Authority.
