For the fifth straight year, the US Open Pool Championship returned to the resort this past week.
The 48th annual tournament has been held in states and cities across the country since its inception, including Las Vegas and Virginia, but Atlantic City is perfect for the event for many reasons, the biggest being the crowds it draws, tournament director Henry Jones said.
The weeklong 9-ball event started Monday with 256 professional and amateur pool players at Harrah’s Resort & Casino Atlantic City. The field included 128 World Nine Ball Tour professionals and 14 former US Open champions.
Matchroom Pool, which owns WNT, and the Atlantic City Sports Commission hosted the tournament.
