Casino revenues were down more than 20 percent in September at Encore Boston Harbor, as gamblers apparently shied away from the resort amid an ongoing worker strike.
The year-over-year decline is the first concrete indication that the labor dispute — now approaching its second full month — is affecting Encore’s business. Picketing workers have been stationed around the clock outside of the facility throughout the strike, which has driven off some potential patrons.
The Massachusetts Gaming Commission’s monthly casino revenue reports show the casino’s gross revenue from table and slot games was $46.1 million, a roughly 22 percent decrease from last year.
The slowdown at the state’s largest casino also will be felt on Beacon Hill.
