A Brazilian federal appeals court has suspended a lower-court injunction that temporarily allowed Stake Brazil to keep operating despite the country’s new betting ban.

On 9 October, the president of the Regional Federal Court of the 3rd Region (TRF-3), Judge Luis Antonio Johonsom Di Salvo, granted the federal government’s request to suspend the injunction.

São Paulo’s 9th Federal Civil Court had issued it only one day earlier (8 October), which at the time looked like a crucial reprieve for Stake and an important potential precedent for other online operators.

The injunction had permitted Stake’s authorization to operate in force until 25 October 2026 while the case was reviewed.
