As the government mulls stricter regulation for the gambling industry, Sun International has launched its own gambling charter. The Responsible Gambling Charter sets out how the gaming, hospitality, and entertainment group promotes responsible gambling at its casinos and also via its online gambling platforms.

The marketing restrictions in the document include not placing time-dependent broadcast or display gambling advertising between 6am and 8am or between noon and 6pm, to limit minors’ exposure.

Sun International says this goes beyond regulatory requirements “and reflects our commitment to responsible marketing”.

In conversation with Stephen Grootes, CEO Ulrik Bengtsson says that while the gambling industry has evolved quite rapidly over the past few years, regulation arguably has not kept pace.
