Rod Stewart, the raspy-voiced British rock legend behind “Maggie May” and “Tonight’s the Night,” has called off all six of his upcoming shows at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, halting his “The Encore Shows” residency after undergoing a routine coronary stent procedure.
The Aug. 18 through Aug. 29 run at the Colosseum was among the North American dates canceled after Stewart, 81, postponed and then scrapped performances in Ohio earlier this month.
The cancellations strike at the heart of one of the Las Vegas Strip’s longest-running entertainment relationships. Stewart launched his Las Vegas residency, “Rod Stewart: The Hits,” at the Colosseum in 2011. Over 13 years and 200 performances, the residency became one of the venue’s longest-running and most acclaimed shows.
