Rivers Casino Philadelphia must face a proposed class action alleging it failed to protect the personal information of thousands of people that was exposed in a 2024 data breach.

The plaintiffs adequately pleaded a claim of negligence, Judge Joshua D. Wolson of the US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania said Aug. 7.

The plaintiffs alleged that Sugarhouse HSP Gaming LP and Rush Street Gaming LLC, which own and operate Rivers Casino, breached their duties under common law, contract law, industry standards, and the Federal Trade Commission Act to implement reasonable and adequate data-security measures.
