Spending on lobbying in New York surged to a record high of $213 million for the first half of this year, with stakeholders in the ride-share, gambling and healthcare industries leading the way when it came to trying to influence state government policy.
The details were laid out in a report released Wednesday by the state Commission on Ethics and Lobbying in Government, which records lobbying disclosures and enforces state ethics laws. Total lobbying expenses and compensation increased by 16% from the previous year, according the report.
“This year’s lobbying spending continues to surpass record spending in 2025, increasing for both of the most recent bi-monthly and semi-annual reporting periods,” ethics commission Executive Director Sanford Berland said in the report.
