U.S. Sen. Cory Booker said Friday that no low-income city in the nation has more growth and development potential than Atlantic City.

The Democratic senator and former Newark mayor was in the city to tour small-scale development projects in and around the Orange Loop neighborhood, and also to visit AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, on the final day of his annual tour of the state’s 21 counties.

He met with Mayor Marty Small Sr., officials from the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority, and the developers of projects including the Tennessee Avenue Beer Hall, Container Park, The Residences at Orange Loop, The Top Hat and others that have benefited from federal Opportunity Zone legislation he helped write that provides tax breaks for building projects in distressed areas.
