Despite no mention of iCasino in New York Gov. Kathy Hochul’s preliminary budget, state Sen. Joseph Addabbo introduced a bill late Wednesday to legalize online casino games in New York state.

Addabbo was hoping Hochul would include some mention of iCasino revenue for the upcoming fiscal year, but he has said it’s possible to move the process along even if it’s excluded from the executive budget.

Senate Bill 4856 would legalize mobile casino gaming including slots, table games, and live dealer games, making licenses available to existing New York mobile sportsbook operators, casinos, tribes, and racinos. There would be three additional licenses available through a competitive bidding process to companies that have at least 5% minority ownership.
