New Jersey lawmakers advanced legislation Thursday to address several potential harmful aspects of gambling, including requiring those who want to remove themselves from self-exclusion lists to watch videos about the risks of betting and where to get help for a gambling problem.
The Senate State Government, Wagering, Tourism & Historic Preservation committee discussed and voted to advance three bills aimed at limiting harmful aspects of gambling.
They included requiring casinos or sportsbooks that impose restrictions on a player to provide him or her with a written explanation of why the limit has been imposed.
They also advanced a measure that would require the state to study the effectiveness of using various words and phrases in advertisements for casino games and sports pools to deter illegal or irresponsible gambling.
