Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby will be eligible to play next season despite having placed bets on his own team after a Texas state court on Monday granted a temporary injunction in his lawsuit against the NCAA.

Later Monday, the NCAA formally filed a Notice of Appeal in the case, according to a court filing obtained by The Athletic. The NCAA is requesting an “accelerated appeal” to the Court of Appeals for the Seventh District of Texas, which is located in the city of Amarillo. All four justices that preside over the court are graduates of Texas Tech University School of Law.
