A study of proposed legislation shows the impacts of a resort/casino in Jackson would extend beyond the site itself.
Rep. Grace Butler-Washington was a co-sponsor on one of the bills filed last session.
“When discussion was first held, my mind went to maybe like the Riverwalk in San Antonio… except it would have a casino. But then with this particular legislation… the retail portion really made me think of a broader spectrum and what that looked like for our city,” Butler-Washington said.
House Ways and Means Chairman Trey Lamar said this proposal differs from many development opportunities state lawmakers typically see.
