Three New Orleans residents are suing DraftKings, FanDuel and other casino-related companies, claiming their sports betting apps use technology and targeted promotions to encourage people to keep gambling.
The lawsuit, filed last week in Orleans Parish Civil District Court, alleges the companies use customer data to identify people vulnerable to problem gambling and encourage them to continue placing bets. It specifically names DraftKings, FanDuel and their parent company, Flutter Entertainment, along with Belle of Orleans LLC, which does business as Amelia Belle Casino, and Catfish Queen LLC, which does business as Bally’s Baton Rouge.
