Las Vegas tourism experts are anticipating robust Labor Day weekend traffic and local resorts are expecting to cash in with room rates that are higher than they were a year ago.
The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority on Wednesday forecast 335,000 visitors over the three-day weekend that marks the traditional end of summer.
This year’s Labor Day holiday occurs Sept. 7, the latest it can be on the calendar.
If the LVCVA forecast is met, visitation will see a 4.4 percent increase in traffic over last year’s Labor Day holiday. The marketing organization predicts occupancy will increase by 1 percentage point to 89.5 percent and Southern Nevada would see a total economic impact of $703.2 million, a 4.1 percent increase over last year.
