Las Vegas employment totals pushed higher last month amid a “steady labor market” in Nevada, according to a new report, as tourism levels have improved over last year’s drop in visitor volume.

Employment in the Las Vegas area rose by 2,300 jobs, or 0.2 percent, from June to July, the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation reported Thursday, citing seasonally adjusted figures.

Last month, employment levels also rose by 0.3 percent in the Reno area but slipped by 0.6 percent in the Carson City area, the department found.

Statewide, year-over-year job growth was just over 1 percent, DETR Chief Economist David Schmidt said in the report.
