Las Vegas employment totals ticked higher again recently, but the local jobless rate started the year among the highest in the nation, new reports show.
Total employment in the Las Vegas area in February rose by 1,100 jobs since January, a 0.1 percent increase, the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation reported Thursday, citing seasonally adjusted figures.
This followed a monthly increase of 1,500 jobs to start the new year.
Compared to February of last year, total employment in America’s casino capital was up by 25,100 jobs, or 2.2 percent, according to the department, which also reported a 2.2 percent gain statewide over the past year.
