Station Casinos employees joined Senators Catherine Cortez Masto and Cory Booker on Capitol Hill, calling on the Senate to pass a bill that would speed up union contract negotiations.
The Faster Labor Contracts Act would require employers to start bargaining within 10 days of a union’s request.
If there is no agreement after 90 days, the bill would require federal mediation, followed by arbitration if mediation fails.
Culinary Union leaders say Station Casinos workers have been waiting years for a first contract.
“Having a union contract at Station Casinos gives you, you can take care of your families a better life, a better pension, and everything that goes in that contract,” a worker said.
