Sports gambling slowed in Iowa in April, according to reporting from the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission… But there was an interesting twist in the state’s casino gaming numbers.
Iowa casinos reported fewer admissions in April, but the average win per visitor went up. Casino admissions fell from 1,402,136 in March to 1,313,111 in April, a drop of more than 89,000 visits. At the same time, casino win per capita increased from $108 in March to $111 in April.
That means fewer people walked through casino doors, but those who did generated more revenue per visit.
Overall casino adjusted gross revenue also dipped in April. Iowa casinos reported $146.3 million in adjusted gross revenue, down from $151.5 million in March.
