The Ho-Chunk Nation announced Wednesday, after repeated inquiries from the Beloit Daily News, that it plans on opening its casino in Beloit at 2 p.m. on Oct. 23.
“We can’t believe it’s finally happening and we are extremely excited,” Ho-Chunk President Jon Greendeer said in a news release posted to the Ho-Chunk Nation Facebook page. “We hold so much history in this area and now we can say we hold an amazing future to share with our friends and partners in the state line region.”
The casino, near the corner of Willowbrook and Colley roads in Beloit, is the first part of a massive 1.2-million-square-foot casino, hotel and convention center project that is expected to cost at least $705 million.
