A Washington court has ordered online casino operator High 5 Games to pay back US$24.9 million in damages to players who claimed to have been injured by its games.

The lawsuit against High 5 Games was brought to court by law firm Edelson & Tousley on behalf of consumers who had lost money while playing at High 5 Games.

According to Greg Lamm at Law360, the evidence presented to the court showed that employees of High 5 Games had targeted high-spending users, known as ‘whales,’ suffering from gambling addictions.

Although High 5 denied any wrongdoing, the jury concluded that the plaintiff had suffered almost US$18 million in damages. High 5 Games were also subject to an additional charge of US$7 million in enhanced damages.
