Daniel Birdseye, 39, of Cincinnati, was formally charged today with Kidnapping, Robbery Armed with a Deadly Weapon, Criminal Confinement, Intimidation, and Battery on Public Safety Officials.

The incident started on March 2 around 7:30 p.m. with a report of an active shooter at the casino in Lawrenceburg. Although no shots were fired, Birdseye allegedly held multiple Hollywood Casino employees at gunpoint during the robbery attempt.

During the investigation, law enforcement learned that earlier in the day, Birdseye was at the casino gambling. Upon re-entering the casino around 7:29 p.m., investigators say Birdseye walked to the main cage/bank area and pulled up a gaiter to cover his mouth and nose and began following an employee toward the bank area.
