Denmark has approved the introduction of a whistle-to-whistle gambling advertising ban as part of a new package of marketing restrictions submitted to the country’s parliament.
The Mette Frederiksen-led government, as well as a broad majority in Danish Parliament, on Friday (24 October) submitted a legislative agreement called “Gaming Package 1: A more responsible gaming market” which envisions a series of new gambling advertising restrictions.
The law will be fully implemented from 1 January 2027, with measures including a whistle-to-whistle gambling ad ban effective from 10 minutes either side of a sporting event, a ban on the use of famous people in ads, and on marketing that could affect children and young people.
