The Steuben County Board of Commissioners punted back to the Steuben County Plan Commission a zoning ordinance amendment that would set rules for development of a casino in county jurisdiction.
The amendment basically followed language of an ordinance written in 2008 and also looked to the county’s rules for citing confined animal feeding operations for setback guidance.
The Plan Commission’s subcommittee on a casino had met in two public sessions earlier this summer in hopes of crafting an ordinance amendment so it could be acted on by planners then commissioners in advance of a casino referendum being presented to voters in November.
