The Steuben County Board of Commissioners are ready to act on a resolution authorizing a referendum on casino gambling in Steuben County.

No action was taken on the resolution, which presented Tuesday. It must be acted on in order for Steuben County to meet the referendum provision of House Enrolled Act 1038, which would allow the county to be considered for the 14th casino license in Indiana if the measure is approved by voters.

“The Steuben County Executive Body directs the appropriate county officials to take all necessary and lawful steps to place the question of permitting inland casino gambling before the voters of Steuben County at a duly authorized election,” the draft resolution reads.
