Frustrated by promises of support that have yet to materialize, a group of casino workers is asking Gov. Phil Murphy to get the state Legislature to vote on a smoking ban and send it to his desk before he leaves office in a few weeks.

Workers from Casino Employees Against Smoking Effects (CEASE) wrote to the outgoing Democratic governor, who is completing his second and final term, asking him to exert pressure or influence on the Legislature to pass a smoking ban bill that has been stalled for nearly two years.

Murphy has repeatedly said he would sign a smoking ban into law if a bill reaches his desk.
