Gambling Minister Vicky Foxcroft has promised that a consultation on revoking ‘aim to permit’ rules will be “starting very shortly.”

A fringe panel organized by the Coalition to End Gambling Advertising (CEGA) and think-tank More in Common constituted Foxcroft’s first substantial public appearance in her capacity as gambling minister.

It was a cautious debut from the minister who only took on her new DCMS brief in early August 2026, alongside responsibility for youth, digital inclusion, civil society and loneliness.

She was not in a position to give a clear timeline on the aim to permit consultation, and moderator James Noyes concluded the talk by asking the attendees to reserve judgement until a year from now, when he hopes there will have been “tangible progress.”
