In honor of Earth Day today, the Casino Association of New Jersey highlighted the Atlantic City casino industry’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
“The Atlantic City casino industry is focused on building a more sustainable future. It is vital that we help to protect the natural resources that make our oceanfront resort destination unique and valued to residents and visitors alike,” said Mark Giannantonio, CANJ president.
In line with this year’s official theme, “Planet vs. Plastics,” Caesars, Harrah’s Resort and Tropicana Atlantic City’s table games team members will host a beach cleanup on June 3.
“From beach clean-ups, shell recycling to solar panel installations, our collective efforts are reducing our carbon footprint and helping to safeguard the environment that we all care so deeply about,” Giannantonio said.
Through the Caesars Foundation, Caesars, Harrah’s Resort and Tropicana Atlantic City partnered with the National Park Trust for the Buddy Bison Carbon Reduction Contest program between November and February this year to work with Richmond Avenue School students, inspiring them to make impactful changes in reducing their carbon footprint.
Other initiatives include:
- A four-canopy, 6.5-megawatt solar portfolio installed late last year at Caesars’ Atlantic City.
- Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City, Resorts Casino Hotel and Borgata Hotel & Casino Atlantic City participating in the New Jersey Marine Resources Administration’s Shell Recycling Program, which benefits the state’s coastline waters and maintains local oyster populations.
- Borgata Atlantic City replacing its neon and fluorescent lights with energy-efficient LED lights, and its staff participating in a walking path clean-up on April 17.
