RIVERTON, Wyo. (AP) — Wyoming has extended the Eastern Shoshone tribe’s gambling compact until 2046.
The action last week came after Gov. Matt Mead met with members of the Eastern Shoshone Business Council in Fort Washakie.
Eastern Shoshone Business Council Chairman Darwin St. Clair Jr. says the tribe uses gambling revenue for education, health, housing, safety employment and law enforcement.
The Ranger reports that St. Clair noted that if Wyoming chooses to expand its gambling presence, it would hinder the tribes’ operations.
He asked that the tribe have a seat in a state gambling committee.
