An overview of igaming revenue in New Jersey, Michigan, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Connecticut, Delaware, and Rhode Island, the seven states where online gambling is legal in the U.S.
National
Total igaming revenue for September 2024 in New Jersey, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, West Virginia, Delaware, and Rhode Island added up to $686.7 million compared to $533.9 million in September 2023.
1. New Jersey
Online-casino gambling in the Garden State generated slightly more than $208 million in September 2024 compared to $163.8 million in the same period last year. It was the first time New Jersey breached the $200 million mark. In addition, over the first three quarters of 2024, igaming generated nearly 41% of total gambling revenue in the state.
Golden Nugget took the lead in September with $61.8 million compared to $45.1 million last year, while Resorts Digital was a distant second at $52.9 million in earnings compared to last year’s $45.4 million. Borgata/BetMGM wasn’t too far behind Resorts at $48.2 million compared to $41.1 million.
New Jersey collected $31.2 million in online-gambling taxes in September versus $24.5 million in September 2023.
2. Michigan
September was the first time that Michigan igaming revenue surpassed $200 million two months in a row. In addition, the $202.6 million in win was the second-highest of any month in the state’s igaming history, falling short of March’s record of $215.2 million. It was 21.7% higher than September 2023’s $166.4 million.

MGM Grand Detroit (BetMGM) remains the board leader with $53.4 million compared to last year’s $48.6 million, followed by Motor City (FanDuel) at $48.8 million and Bay Mills (DraftKings) at $37.1 million.
Michigan’s 15 online-casino operators paid $38.1 million in total taxes compared to $31.3 million year over year.
3. Pennsylvania
Revenue from igaming in September was $176 million compared to $159.5 million year over year and falling slightly short of the record set last month at $183.7 million.
Total revenue from online slots was $132 million versus $114.7 million last year, while online table revenue of $42.4 million was exactly the same as in September 2023. Online poker’s $2.2 million was a drop from last year’s $2.4 million.
Hollywood Casino at Penn National generated the most igaming revenue last month with $66.0 million versus $64.9 million, followed by Valley Forge with $47.1 million compared to $35.4 million year over year, and Rivers Casino Philadelphia’s $31.5 million compared to $29.2 million.
The state scored $51.1 million in igaming taxes in September.
4. Connecticut
Connecticut’s two main online-casino operators, DraftKings and FanDuel, in September earned $37 million compared to $30.4 million in September 2023. The two remote-gambling giants continue to roughly split the igaming market; DraftKings’s $19.6 million accounted for 53% against Fan Duel’s $17.4 million at 47%.
The two paid $6.7 million in taxes to Connecticut versus $5.5 million last year.
5. West Virginia
Between September 1 and 28 (West Virginia reports weekly), the Mountain State’s igaming revenue added up to $20 million compared to $12.7 million in September 2023.
6. Delaware
Delaware’s online casinos generated $5.8 million compared to the $1.1 million in revenue in September 2023, yet another month of proof that Rush Street Interactive’s operation continues to put last year’s 888 to shame.
Online video lottery (slot) games once again accounted for the lion’s share of income at $4.1 million, while table games generated $1.7 million—and comparisons against last year are superfluous. Online poker is still nowhere to be found in Delaware, the one black mark from the transition of operators last January.
7. Rhode Island
Rhode Island’s igaming revenue, monopolized by Bally’s, generated just $3.1 million in September compared to $2.97 million in August. That brought September’s total igaming revenue in the seven states to $686.7 million.
